The Coats Chamber of Commerce will sponsor the 98th Farmer's Day Celebration on Saturday, October 9, 2010. As far as we can determine this is the oldest Farm Day Festival in the Southeast - with the exception of the State Fair. Coats Farmer's Day dates back to 1910; however, it has not run continuously since that date due to wars. But off and on since then the farmers of the area have been eulogized, featured and starred as the main attraction.
Today's Farmer's Day has changed somewhat since 1910 with the addition of a Golf Tournment, Kid's Park, Car and Truck Show, etc.
Schedule:
Thursday, September 30th, Golf Tournament at Chicora Country Club.
Friday, October 8, Gospel Concert on Main St.
Friday, October 8, Lions Club Pig Cook-Off.
